Today, water is becoming an expensive commodity. As a result of increasing demand water reserves are falling, the amount available to us is declining and water charges are continuing to increase year on year. Up to 50% of the treated water that is currently used can be safely replaced with rainwater without any loss in convenience
Rainwater, often referred to as soft water, can be efficiently harvested, stored and used for laundry, flushing toilets, general cleaning and garden irrigation.
We believe in modular solutions providing the Customer with the ultimate flexibility. DAB supply an integrated surface mounted pumping station that can draw water from any sized underground or surface tank. This is called the AQUAPROF.
Rainwater Management Distribution
The AQUAPROF and ACTIVE SWITCH units are used for the management and distribution of rain water. The unit detects the lack of water in both rain water and mains collection system and corrects it to guarantee that the system operates correctly (or rather, it never lets the identified users run out of water). Notify in the event of faults and indicate the type of problem incurred.
The system is generally limited to irrigation, washing machine, WC flushing tank and floor cleaner systems.
An even more simple soltion is to install a DAB Divertron in the tank, possibly with a floating intake to collect the cleanest water.
There are many integrated Rainwater Harvesting systems on the Market and if you are looking for a total solution , complete with storage tank then we can advise on suppliers.
Calculating available Rainwater Storage.
For a rainwater holding tank we use the following sizing calculation:
Roof Area (square metres) x Annual rainfall (in mm) x Run-Off co-efficient (a pitched, tiled roof is 0.75) x System efficiency (Assume 90%).= Annual collection in litres.
A tank is normally sized to store about 5% to 10% of this total to prevent stagnation.
