Water Regulations AB Air break
The WATER SUPPLY (WATER FITTINGS) REGULATIONS 1999 mandates that a private water supply must not be allowed to cross contaminate with water supplied by a water authority unless an AB air break is installed.
Many customers believe that double check valves are acceptable. This is not so as they are mechanical valves, subject to breakdown and therefore unacceptable to the regulation authority.
To achieve this compliance, systems using booster pumps and tanks have been designed and examples from Grundfos and Lowara are available. The Lowara system is detailed below.
Lowara MINI V and MINI VV system
Lowara Booster sets complete with break tank - suitable for boosting cold water via type A/B air gap fitted with either the Teknospeed or Hydrovar energy saving
variable speed drive. Suction break tank low-level switch available.
Flexible pipe connections available. Special booster sets and larger performance boosters can be built to suit specific requirements.
HM/CA/CEA and e-SV versions available.
